Among all the intensities of our lives, locally, nationally, globally, here’s a simple delight: here in the US and Canada, it’s National Poetry Month. Joanna Streetly, Poet Laureate of Tofino, BC, is once again gathering a poem to illuminate each day of the month.
Today’s poem is my own: Creation Story, previously published in Quail Bell Magazine. I hope it brings a small lift of joy to your day. Peace, friends.

Powerful poem, especially that ending… tears the old in two/and makes more/room. Wow. The expansiveness, the generosity, the growth. And I had to look up this tree. It’s beautiful! ________________________________

Thank you, Amber! Madrones are a favorite of mine. Not too many grow where I live, but I meet them now and then in a garden or on an exposed rock face, and I just love their constantly shifting bark.
